WCW Uncensored 1996

When I decided I was going to cover this PPV, that was the moment I realized I was a masochist. If you're not familiar with this PPV, it's the one that features the awful, bafflingly booked Doomsday Cage Match, a three-tier cage pitting the Mega Powers against The Alliance to End Hulkamania... What a nightmare this is. We'll get to it later on, because this is what caps off the PPV, and admittedly I don't know how the rest of this show fares, so let's get into it. Our opening video package shows the members of the above mentioned Alliance talking about getting rid of Hogan, while repeating Doomsday repeatedly, followed by Jimmy Hart laughing maniacally for some reason. We're live from the Tupelo Coliseum in Tupelo, Mississippi for the 2nd annual Uncensored PPV. On commentary we have Tony Schiavone, Dusty Rhodes and the late Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. Production has Dusty and Bobby's names switched on the graphic that pops up. They hype up the Do...

WWE Royal Rumble 2011

Since we're approaching the 2019 Royal Rumble, like I usually do I'll be covering a few classic Rumble PPVs on the way. Today, I'm starting with this one, the 2011 edition, featuring the first and only 40 man Rumble. It seems to be considered the worst Rumble match from the few I've asked, and I've never actually seen this PPV or the match itself, having been before I discovered the magic of illegal live streams, and after we had stopped paying for PPVs. So that being said, let's get into it. We get a video package hyping the Rumble match, overemphasizing the 40 man aspect while showing the past winners.  We're live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. We get right into our first match as commentary welcomes us to the show. World Heavyweight Championship: Edge (c) vs Dolph Ziggler Pre-Match Thoughts & Notes:  Michael Cole, the King and Matt Striker are on commentary for the show.We get a replay of a tag match on Smackdown, won by Edge and ...

TNA Impact: December 20, 2007

Merry Christmas to those who read this! Figured I'd get one more post up for the holiday season, and today I'm covering what, I assume has to be tongue in cheek, what TNA has titled "The Greatest Wrestling Christmas Episode EVER?" on their Youtube channel, because Jesus Christ, I've seen this show covered on OSW Review and Bryan and Vinny, and it is a nightmare. But I'm a masochist so let's take a look. The opening video package talks about what Christmas is about normally, before announcing what this show has in store. Good god, this will be hell won't it? Cut to the TNA Christmas party with Eric Young and JB. Eric introduces his family, and they have a lemur. In walks... a Bushwhacker? OK I wasn't expecting that.  We get TNA's usual opening package and pyro, Mike Tenay and Don West on commentary from the Impact Zone in Orlando Florida. We have a cage set up with Christmas lights hung up all around. Looks like we're starting with Six Si...

The 1st Edition of Raw Roulette

While I try to figure out what to cover first on the way to the 2019 Royal Rumble, and before I cover the next episode of the Guest Host era, I figured let's go off the beaten path with the Raw Roulette. It was a simple concept conceived, at least in kayfabe, by Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff, in the stipulation for every match for the night would be decided by the spin of a wheel. Simple and for the most part it worked. WWE would feature this for a few years whenever Raw took place in Vegas. That being said, let's get into the first edition, on the October 7, 2002 edition of Raw. We get a quick little video package highlighting Vegas and the Roulette wheel, then cut to Eric in his office, alongside some showgirls. The wheel features such matches as a Hot Lesbian Action Match... er OK, moving on, Bischoff's Choice, Kiss My Ass and others. With that said, let's find out our first match. We get to kick off with a Steel Cage Match. We get Raw's intro (god I mi...

WWE Summerslam 2000

WWE Summerslam 2000 With the TLC PPV taking place tomorrow night, I figured I'd go back and watch Summerslam 2000, which featured the very first TLC match in WWE. I don't think I've ever seen this PPV in it's entirety either, so I'm going into this pretty much blind.  We get an opening video package of Freddie Blassie watching some footage to the build up of this PPV with a black and white filter, classical music playing in the background. It's a strange video to be sure, but it sets the tone for the show. We're live from the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. As always, J.R. and the King are on commentary for the 13th annual Summerslam, sold out with more than a $1.1 million gate as J.R. mentions. Ten matches, 4 for titles. Let's get the action started. Right to Censor (The Goodfather, Bull Buchanan & Steven Richards) vs Too Cool Stevie's got a mic and says he would think that the people of the Bi...
