TNA No Surrender 2009

Our opening video package is done in the style of black-and-white silent film and a song about "Amore". "Sometimes, the only way to win is to surrender, but not in this world." Now back to regular color footage to hype up tonight's matches. Then some more black-and-white and "Amore" to cap it off. "The show must go on..."

We're live from the Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida, as Mike Tenay welcomes us to the show, and Taz has replaced Don West on commentary. Up first, the crowning of the first-ever Knockouts Tag Champions. We see that a tournament took place over the last few weeks, leading to the finals tonight.
TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Taylor Wilde & Sarita vs The Beautiful People (Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky)
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: So despite the fact Madison was knocked out of the tournament in the first round, here she is teaming with Velvet. Tenay explains that due to business issues, TNA and Angelina Love have parted ways, and that the TNA family wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors. As it turns out she was having issues with her visa so they released her I guess, and wouldn't be back until January. Slick Johnson is originally assigned to be the ref, but out comes Hebner to eject him due to his past with the Beautiful People, which of course upsets them.
Sarita dropkicks Madison from behind knocking her out of the ring, Taylor with a scoop slam on Velvet, who then launches Sarita up to splash down on Velvet for a cover and a kick out. Sarita and Velvet start the match proper with some quick back and forth, Sarita getting a roll up for two in the middle of it, then a backslide and another roll up that's broken up by Madison. Velvet sent off the ropes into a double elbow, then Sarita lifts Taylor for a back suplex who flips to land on Velvet for another cover and a kick out. Velvet gets a knee in and gets a tag to Madison, who runs into a drop toe hold, Taylor off the ropes with an elbow to the back and Sarita tags herself in for an elbow to the back. Madison face first in the corner, but reverses a whip across the ring, and while Sarita tries to get her boots up she's swung around and slammed down to the mat, then covers for two.
Sarita face first in the corner, then Madison with kicks to the midsection and Velvet gets the tag for a straight jacket double team take down and covers for two. Sarita tossed across the ring, then again by the hair, then off he ropes for a sunset flip but Sarita rolls through, only for Velvet to sidestep a dropkick, then covers after some stomps for two. Velvet stepping on and stomping down Sarita, then covers for two. Madison in with a front facelock, then a swinging neckbreaker and a cover for two. Velvet in again, gets a few chops in, but a kick is reversed into a float over DDT from Sarita.
Taylor and Velvet in with Taylor clearing house with a pair of dropkicks and a rolling senton. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Madison, then covers but Velvet breaks it up. Sarita in and flips over Velvet to forearm Madison in the corner, then Taylor takes out Velvet with a dropkick. Taylor with a waistlock on Madison as Sarita springboards with a dropkick, adding momentum for a German suplex with a bridge for the win and the titles in 4:55. Well... it was an OK match. Sarita and Taylor were good, and Madison was OK, but Velvet was sloppy as hell and really didn't add much, not to mention it was short.

Sarita and Taylor celebrate as Velvet gets upset and Madison is rolled out by Hebner and we get the replays.

Over to commentary to run down the rest of the card:
- Apparently just added as a PPV bonus, The Pope faces Suicide and falls count anywhere.
- Last we saw Super Mex, he was battered and beaten as a result of the game plan of Eric Young, and now Eric has to face the consequences and the wrath of Hernandez.
- There's no question this is going to be the toughest test for the new X Division Champion and the Nation of Violence, when Daniels gets his shot at the Samoan Submission Machine.
- Can ODB defeat her former love toy and become TNA Knockouts Champion for a 2nd time? (ODB vs Cody Deaner)
- Big Sexy has dollar signs in his eyes, something like 50,000 of them, while Abyss gets his chance to be Legends Champion.
- Whichever two teams can act as a cohesive unit tonight will be victorious in the ever dangerous Lethal Lockdown structure. (Team 3D & Beer Money vs Scott Steiner, Booker T & British Invasion)
- This is what we've been anticipating, the epic PPV debut of "The Boss", when Bobby Lashley faces "The War Machine" Rhyno.
- Kurt Angle defends his World Title against AJ Styles, Matt Morgan and Sting in the main event.

Tenay then sends it to Lauren who's with Sarita and Taylor, who congratulates them on their win. Taylor says that she knew the first time she stepped into the Impact Zone with Sarita that they had chemistry and nothing would compare to it. Sarita says she's had hundreds of tag team partners, but no one better than Taylor, and they plan on keeping the titles a long time.

Time for a video package. It starts with EY saying that it's time World Elite starts taking back from America and its people, just like America took from them, and that they're going to be who they want to be, that from there on the entertainment stops and the violence begins. He seemingly tried to recruit Hernandez, telling him the people will never respect him, but Hernandez calls them "mi familia," and tells EY to love it or not to leave the door hit him on the ass on the way out. Hernandez would go on to beat Homicide to get a match with Sting and a possible shot at the World Title, but would get cost the match by EY trying to look like Homicide. EY would later use Homicide as a hostage to recruit Hernandez only for Homicide to turn his back and join World Elite himself, leading to our match tonight.

Before that though, JB is standing by with EY along with World Elite, and is oddly dressed in a suit despite the fact he's set to face Hernandez next, and JB asks why he still thinks Hernandez will join them. I guess EY doesn't like that so Kiyoshi takes over as interviewer, speaking in Japanese. EY tells JB that he has no idea what it's like to be an outsider, unlike himself, as does Hernandez, and whether he knows it or not they all have an obligation to Hernandez, make sure he makes the right choice for himself and his family, pointing out that even his own brother Homicide is one of them. Homicide pipes in and tells Hernandez that if he doesn't join them, his blood will be on his own hands. EY continues and says they care about him, calls him their family, their brother, and they're up next. He says he's not going to fight Hernandez, that he's not even dressed to wrestle, and to show how sincere he is he won't touch Hernandez. He tells Hernandez to give him his best shot, because he'll take it. He calls Hernandez brother and says that he will come home to the World Elite. This is a rather interesting story, I'm intrigued.

TNA Grudge Match: Eric Young vs Hernandez (Feast or Fired TNA World Title briefcase holder)
Well as promised EY comes out in a suit, but Hernandez doesn't hesitate to clock him immediately to get this match started. EY shoved into the corner chest first and nailed with a clothesline from behind off the rebound, then a pounce sends EY over the ropes to the floor. Back in the ring, headbutt to the chest, then a Border Toss for the win in 52 seconds. Well true to his word EY didn't try to fight back, but I don't really think the story paid off. Who knows though, maybe there's more to this in the weeks to come.

Hernandez leaves immediately with his briefcase as EY comes to.

JB is standing by in the locker room with Matt Morgan, and says that Angle made it clear on Impact, when he put Morgan through the announce table, that it'll be every man for himself tonight. Morgan agrees, he says that the mystery is over, no more fun, no more tricks, and more importantly no more head games, just pure unadulterated violence. He adds that, no offense to AJ or Sting, but tonight is about himself and Angle, that this is what they wanted from the beginning, that they're thoroughbreds, born to compete and win, it's what wakes them up in the morning, it's in their veins, it's in their very DNA. He says that tonight is what the world's been waiting for, the Olympic gold medalist versus "The Blueprint," he can actually feel the burn in his own hand from the torch that he's going to rip from Angle's grip, and says the future's come, the future's now, and the future is right there. Morgan walks off.

Onto another video package with that familiar voice over. "Their's is a rivalry that has defined a division. It began in 2005 at Slammiversary, with Samoa Joe's arrival in TNA. The "Samoan Submission Machine" went on a tear through the X Division, destroying everything and everyone in his path, including longtime X Division Champion Christopher Daniels, but from their battles rose a war. What followed was a series of brutal, knockdown, drag out, jaw dropping contests that defined a company and put TNA Wrestling on the map. As their rivalry evolved, a mutual respect developed between them. In the years that followed, titles came and went, their ideals and passions were tested, and their focus shifted. Long removed was their supremacy from the X Division, and the rivalry they shared. Three months ago in the King of the Mountain Match at Slammiversary, Samoa Joe's true colors were revealed, the lure of money and greed overtook him as he joined the Main Event Mafia, turning his back on those who thought they knew him best. Last month at Hard Justice, Samoa Joe recaptured the X Division gold, the same night his former friend Daniels won the Steel Asylum to become the #1 contender for the same title. At No Surrender, the two must come face to face once again. Whatever history there was between them has been erased."
The package continues where Daniels confronts Joe on Impact, where he says he never imagined they'd be fighting for that title again under these circumstances, and that the Mafia aren't his friends, saying he doesn't know who Joe is anymore. Joe proceeded to lay him out. "One of the most storied rivalries in TNA has been renewed."

Onto the bullet points:
- Daniels Escapes Asylum: It was last month at Hard Justice when Daniels earned that #1 contender status when he was victorious in the Steel Asylum Match.
- Friends Become Foes: They just documented the friendship, or former friendship, the relationship between Daniels and Samoa Joe, and have now become heated rivals.
- Personal Issues Strike a Nerve: After Daniels went public that Joe's own family doesn't know him since he formed the Nation of Violence, the X Division Champion just outright snapped. Can the "Samoan Submission Machine" harness that rage tonight, or will it cost him the X Division Title?
No where in this has it been explained why Taz and Joe aren't together anymore, or how Taz transitioned to commentary.

TNA X Division Championship: Daniels vs Samoa Joe (c)
Some quick back and forth to start the mat as  Daniels tries to take down Joe but he's quickly taken down with a shoulder block. Joe with stomps and shots in the corner to the body, stomping him down to the mat before lifting him to the top rope, but Daniels fights him off and hits a hurricanrana from the middle rope. Joe rolls out and Daniel flies out with a suicide dive. Back in the ring, drop toe hold on Joe, then a knee to the back of his head, followed by a neckbreaker into a cover and a kick out. Joe face first in the corner for the mounted punches until he's shoved off, but Daniels hits a clothesline, before leaping from the middle rope, only to be caught midair with a Uranagi. Snapmare, chop to the back, kick to the chest and a knee drop by Joe, cover and a kick out.
Nerve hold by Joe, Daniels fights through the pain back to his feet, goes off the ropes right into a back elbow from Joe. Joe back to the nerve hold, Daniels fights out again, off the ropes into a snap powerslam, cover for Joe and a near fall. Joe with some jabs, then some chops across the chest, but Daniels manages to duck one, hit a jawbreaker and an enziguri. More shots ducked by Daniels who gets a shot in of his own, Joe sent off the ropes, ducks an elbow into a single leg dropkick. Daniels with a bulldog out of the corner before going up top with a leg drop, but Joe rolls out of the ring before he can capitalize. Daniels with a kick from the apron then a split-legged moonsault takes out Joe.
Daniels manages to pick up a seemingly deadweight Joe, who turns out to be playing possum and sends Daniels face first into the ring post, then sends Daniels into the steps. Daniels is lifted onto the apron just so Joe can clip his leg from behind as he gets up. Back in the ring, Joe goes after the leg while Daniels tries to fight back, off the ropes into some kind of knee buster by Joe. Joe stomping away at the knee now, Daniels continues to fight back and Joe kicking at the leg before rolling into a leg bar until Daniel forces a rope break. Joe with a powerbomb for a pin, Daniels kicks out and Joe transitions to an STF immediately, then switches to a single leg crab until Daniels forces the break again. More kicks to the leg by Joe, until Daniels can avoid one and mount an offense into a running neckbreaker out of the corner.
Daniels with rights until Joe thumbs the eye, but Daniels gets in forearms and kicks. Joe up in the corner, tries to get Daniels with a boot but he ducks and slides out of the ring to trip him up, then to the top rope for a clothesline, cover and a near fall. Codebreaker by Daniels, cover and another kick out by Joe. Daniels tries for a back suplex but Joe blocks and counters with a half-nelson suplex, covers but Daniels kicks out. Joe gets Daniels up on his shoulders but he slips out and hits an STO. BME attempt but Joe rolls out of the way and Daniels lands on his feet, then hits the corner and Joe nails an overhead kick. Daniels set on top for a Muscle Buster but Daniels slips out and tries for the Last Rites (Ciampa's Fairy Tale Ending) but Joe blocks again. Daniels with a snapmare and tries for a Koji Clutch, until Joe pulls them to their feet and locks in a Coquina Clutch instead. Daniels tries to fight it and reach for the ropes but he's forced to tap in 13:54. A good match as expected from these two.

Joe poses with his title as we get to the replays, and Joe heads to the back as Daniels comes to.

JB is backstage with Foley, who's set to be the guest commentator for the Legends Title match, but JB points out that Mick seems to be a bit distraught. Mick points to the empty spot on his wall among a row of pictures, and he says it replicates the emptiness in his heart. He says he walks into his office after the last Impact as he pulls out a  box, and dumps it to show a broken frame and a shredded... well it looks like some kind of charicature. JB says he has a duplicate, but Mick says you can't duplicate the heart, it's like somebody suggesting you make a couple copies of himself, with the mannerisms and call themselves the Hardcore Legend. He says there's a dignity, an honor, a unique quality to it that made it special to him, and now it's gone. He vows to find the perpetrator and will take action. Then he leaves for the match.

Over to commentary and Taz thinks Mick is overreacting, but Tenay moves onto Pope and Suicide that started at the last PPV in Steel Asylum and they met on the last episode of Impact, which brings us to the video package. It starts with Pope calling Suicide a broken soul, who he says will ultimately cause the demise of mankind, but he's not going to let that happen. He says that we must enlighten those who don't see the light, and ultimately the streets will redeem you. Then to Suicide with what I assume is some kind of voice changer, and says that he's lived and died on the same streets Pope preaches from, and that he represents a threat to Pope's church and followers. Pope says he's created an opportunity to enlighten, and Suicide has created his own personal hell, and says he's going to reach down and resurrect only to pimp slap. Suicide says that the dark savior is coming and it will be a cleansing of the wicked.

Before that though, Lauren is standing by with Pope backstage and she says this match was added as a PPV bonus because of outcries from fans wanting to see them one more time. Pope says he's used to hearing outcries from his congregation, but him and his "infinite wisdom" explain to her that the only person, entity or thing that deserves to be crying out is Suicide, because he beat him like a redneck cop on Impact, with two nightsticks, a taser gun and a can of mace. Lauren asks for more clarification, and Pope says he excommunicated Suicide with extreme prejudice, and says management doesn't tell him who he wrestles, where he wrestles... Well he tries to calm himself down and needs to re-energize himself, plugging some 6-Hour Energy product. Meanwhile right behind Pope, Suicide appears from behind a pillar and leaps off the set with an ax handle and they fight out of view. We cut to the ring to a waiting referee who calls for the bell, so I guess this match is underway.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: "The Pope" D'Angelo Deneiro vs Suicide
Well the ref runs off to the back before the camera catches back up with Pope and Suicide, who are fighting somewhere backstage, presumably near the parking area, trading shots with Suicide being thrown into a metal wall. Suicide thrown on top of an equipment crate as Pope climbs up on a few stacked ones to drop an elbow, though he can't capitalize immediately as he clutches his arm. Pope with a pin on top of the crates for a kick out. Suicide face first off another crate, then Suicide with some shots of his own and Pope goes face first into a pillar, and a small package by Suicide for two. Pope face first off a table, then Pope gets a headbutt in to regain the advantage. Suicide sat down on a chair for more shots by Pope. Suicide blocks another headbutt attempt and backdrops Pope pretty much head first into a wheelbarrow, Suicide goes for a cover while Pope is inside but he manages to kick out.
Suicide wheels it and dumps Pope out face first into a crane, then Pope manages to rake the eyes... somehow through a mask and commandeers a nearby golfcart to try and run down Suicide but he rolls out of the way, tries again but Suicide sidesteps and climbs in for some shots of his own. Pope thrown over some security rails, then tries to climb over a fence but Suicide grabs hold of his trunks, and we get a blurred shot of Pope's bare ass in the process as he tries to pull him down, sending Pope down into some wooden pallets. Suicide covers for two. Pope is set down on a cat and Suicide splashes onto him for a cover and two. Now making their way into the arena through the crowd, Pope lays in wait as he nails Suicide with a water bottle, then sends him face first into the ring bell before ringing it in his ear. To the ring now, Suicide tosses Pope in, but gets caught with a knee, only to nail Pope with a springboard dropkick for a cover and a near fall.
Pope rolls out but gets caught with a slingshot crossbody, but doesn't try and capitalize. Pope rolls back in while Suicide pulls out a table, and Pope tries to dropkick through the ropes but botches it, looks like his feet got caught. Suicide sells anyways and Pope brings the table over beside the ramp. Boot to the chest of Suicide as he repositions the table a bit, then suplexes Suicide onto the ramp for a cover and a near fall. Pope pulls Suicide over to the table and tries a suplex again but Suicide blocks. Now fighting up the ramp to the stage and Suicide hits a clothesline, then a cover and a kick out. Suicide goes for his Suicide Solution but Pope slips out of it, more rights and lefts to the body and a backhand, then pulls down his knee pads but gets hit with a running dropkick from Suicide.
Suicide heads to the back and grabs another table and sets it up in front of the entrance tunnel before getting a running start with Pope on his shoulders, but he slips free, goes for a back suplex but Suicide flips out of it, catches Pope for a rolling senton. Pope dragged over and set down on the table, and Suicide climbs on top of the tunnel but misses a leg drop. Pope rolls on top for the win in 12:25. Think this one went on a bit long, but for falls count anywhere it wasn't too bad, it had a couple fun spots, albeit a bit sloppy at times, but it was fine.

Ref checks on Suicide as Pope holds his ribs and has a grin on his face, ref checking on him too. We go to the replay of Suicide leaping off the tunnel and Suicide hasn't moved as Pope gets back to his feet.

Onto our next video package. It starts with showing us what happened at Hard Justice, when ODB won the Knockouts Title thanks to Cody Deaner, and the argument that followed. Cody would complain to Foley and claim the belt is his, but ODB would point out it the "Women's" Knockout title and that Cody isn't a woman. Foley though, with a fancy, white, puffy judge's wig and gavel, despite ODB's points, made the match for tonight to determine the Knockouts Champion. Cody would claim to be the first Knockout Champion not to pop a squat, while ODB would take offense, saying she and the other Knockouts went out to make a name for themselves in the company and the business, the best broads around, and a man isn't going to win the title.

Somebody in production fucks up because we get stuttering clips from the Knockouts Tag Title match earlier in the show, and they can't find the graphic for the bullet points as Tenay and Taz stall for time. Eventually they just get to the entrances.

Vacated TNA Knockouts Championship: Cody Deaner vs ODB
Deaner tries to give her his t-shirt but she just wipes her ass with it and throws it away. Deaner turns his hat backward, but she takes it and rubs it on her crotch before tossing it away. Deaner threatens to backhand her but she ducks it and deliver a chop, then another, and another in the corner. Deaner gets her in the corner momentarily and misses a chop and gets another, then another. Deaner shoves her away, misses a back elbow and ODB with more chops. Deaner tries to beg her off, but ODB has none of it, and he tries for a low blow which does nothing. He of course thinks he's so smart as he taunts the fans and he gets another chop as he turns around and he rolls out. ODB goes up top with a crossbody. Deaner face first off the apron, and Cody tries to leave but she grabs him and sends him face first off the apron again Back in the ring, Cody reverses a whip into the corner but she gets a boot up, then goes to the middle rope to slam his face into the top turnbuckle, only for him to yank her down to the mat. Cody with a cover for two.
Cody almost delivers a right hand but the ref convinces him not to. ODB choked over the middle rope then grabbed by the hair, Cody with a scoop  slam, cover and a kick out. Deaner grabs her flask and sits on the top rope to take a drink and taunt, then comes off the middle rope for a sledge but ODB gets him with a crotch claw. Deaner tossed across the ring, then ODB with a splash in the corner. ODB to the middle rope, Deaner into the top turnbuckle again repeatedly followed by a Thesz Press, cover and a near fall. Cody trips her and rolls her up, uses the ropes for leverage but the ref catches him in time. Cody argues with the ref and the ref tells him off. Deaner puts his finger repeatedly in the ref's chest, who then shoves Deaner into a roll up by ODB but he kicks out.
Deaner sends ODB off the ropes who goes for a sunset flip, Deaner tries to get to the ropes and he does, and tells the referee to "break it" and calls him an idiot, so the ref kicks his arms so ODB can complete the flip but Deaner still kicks out. Deaner sent into the corner, tries to go up and over but gets caught by ODB, but slips free and clocks ODB, goes for the pin but ODB kicks out. Deaner goes up top but misses a splash, ODB gets him up for the TKO and the win in 7:22. Well it was better than I was expecting it to be, though still wasn't all that great. Thank god Deaner didn't win, though.

ODB poses and celebrates before leaving as we go to the replay. Lauren is there to catch ODB on the ramp and congratulates her on winning her first Knockout Title. ODB says she wasn't about to let that mullet wearing, butthead walk around the building with the title, and she might not like half the broads in the back, but they've busted their butts off to bring honor and pride and hard work to the title. Then calls out to the fans around the world and all her friends in prison for the party to begin before heading to the back.

To the back, JB is with Angle, who tells him Morgan is chomping at the bit to get a hold of Angle and his World Title, and with Sting and AJ in the mix he asks if Angle's bitten off more than he can chew. Angle looks at him a bit insulted and asks that if that were the case if JB thinks he'd even admit it, which he makes a good point. He admits that Morgan is everything that he says he is: big, bad, and brainless. He says he doesn't care how big you are, or your biceps, and that if height and body mass were the signs of a true champion, then Morgan would be champion and not himself. He says the difference between him and Matt is what's in their minds and their hearts. He calls out to Morgan and says he could have made him a somebody, but he didn't want his help, and now Morgan's just going to be another statistic that will never live up to his potential. Then he moves onto Sting and AJ, he says he loves a fairy tale as much as the next guy, he reads them to his kids every night, but guarantees that tonight won't have a happy ending, because tonight will be real, damn real.

Onto our next match, no video package, just the bullet points:
- Who's addicted Abyss or Dr. Stevie?: TNA's resident shrink claimed he was trying to cure Abyss' love of pain, but the doctor became infatuated with "The Monster."
- Nash Looks to Cash $50,000 Bounty: The outspoken "Big Sexy," he's in the wrestling business for one thing and one thing only. Tonight, he has 50,000 reasons to take out Abyss.
- Winner: "I Am Legend": In addition to Dr. Stevie's bounty being offered up to Kevin Nash, the Legends Championship goes to the victor tonight. We know Kevin Nash needs to bring it back to the Main Event Mafia, but he also needs it for that next autograph appearance, because to Nash it's all about the cash.

$50,000 Bounty Challenge for the TNA Legends Championship: "The Monster" Abyss vs Kevin Nash (c)
Mick Foley on commentary
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Mick comes out first with his signature barbed wire bat in hand, and when Taz asks why he needs to bring it out, he says one never knows when it'll come in handy. Taz also blames Tenay for breaking and ruining his picture to try and screw with him. Abyss is out wearing some blue flannel given to him by Mick along with his usual gear. We also learn that Abyss accidentally cost Mick his rematch for that title, while Nash checks out the cash.
Nash with a knee to the midsection followed by rights driving Abyss to the ropes, sent off them, ducks a clothesline and delivers some of his own, then off the ropes into a successful clothesline by Nash. Nash with more knees in the corner, then choking Abyss with his boot and more knees. I think Mick and Taz joke and take shots at Vince, about their experience with being yelled at in their headsets, which made me chuckle a little while Nash is sent into the corner for a splash, then goes for another after rallying the crowd but Nash gets him with an elbow. Nash attempts a clothesline, then Abyss does the same but Nash delivers more rights instead before clotheslining Abyss to the outside. Nash is pulled out under the ropes, but he sends Abyss face first into the steps, before grabbing a chair by the announce table. He misses and nails the ring post, then is sent face first into the apron, then the guard rail, then the steps. As Abyss and Nash re-enter the ring, we see Dr. Stevie has taken a seat at the top of the ramp to watch the action which distracts Abyss, and he turns around into a big boot. More rights and elbows by Nash in the corner before choking Abyss over the middle rope. Nash with a couple of elbow drops, then covers for two.
Nash goes for the chokeslam again but Abyss fights out of it with elbows, off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and hits a flying one of his own. Nash up in the corner and Abyss nails a splash, then a sidewalk slam into a cover and a near fall. Stevie makes his way down and the ref is there to intercept. Daffney slips in from behind with a taser but gets caught by Abyss with a Black Hole Slam instead. Abyss grabs the taser and thinks to use it on Daffney but Stevie jumps in and takes it away before he can, then quickly back out. Ref is still trying to get him out while Nash has grabbed a chair and nails Abyss in the head, covers but Abyss kicks out at 2. Nash pulls down the straps and sets up for the jackknife, but Abyss gets free and delivers the chokeslam, covers and Nash kicks out.
Abyss calls out to Mick and wants the bat but as Mick points out the ref is right there. Mick though leaves commentary anyways but the ref is there to intercept. Mick hands Abyss the bat the wrong way and Abyss retracts as he grabs the wire, and as the ref pulls Mick away, Nash uses the taser right between the legs of Abyss, covers and retains in 8:27. I've come to realize that Nash's matches are pretty much all the same: same offense, same bullshit. So this match... just kinda happened.

Commentary point out Mick's oddness in giving Abyss the bat and as Nash tries to get the money, Stevie's there to take it away. They argue but we can't hear anything, and Nash gives him a jackknife instead. Nash takes the belt and the money anyways and leaves the ring.

JB is standing by with Steiner and Booker, Steiner using a mini putting green, and JB says people backstage are skeptical of Lethal Lockdown, that they might be the underdogs because they're not getting along with the Brits. Steiner says he's not worried about what JB or anyone else is saying and that he has all the balls in the hole. As far as liking the Brits, he says they don't like British people, or Canadians, or any foreigners for that matter, that if you don't speak their language to get the hell out of their country. He tells JB to tell Doug, Dan, Don, British Brutus, whatever to stay out of their way and if they get in their way, they're gonna get some too.
Booker chuckles and says they don't even know why they're in the ring with the Brits, that they can't even wear their jockstraps, says he and Scott are tag team royalty. He says Steiner Brothers have been all the way to the top, that Harlem Heat went all the way to the top and asks where those bums have been, saying they've been nowhere. He hands Steiner his tag belt and picks up his own, and says the Brits are looking at the best, and when they lock them in a cage with weapons that they can use, they'll beat their punk asses from here to next week. Then they leave.

Onto our next video package with the voice over, played behind footage from past matches. "It is a brutal contest of the will, a lethal match where eight men are locked inside a cage with weapons to resolve their differences. Once inside the infamous six sides of steel cage, the roof is lowered, and all of the rules are thrown out. It is the match known as Lethal Lockdown. At No Surrender, it returns with a vengeance." Now we get to some footage of our respective teams and their encounters in the build up. "Four tag teams: Team 3D, 22x World Champions, they know hardcore better than anyone; Beer Money, strong, polished, definitely a force to be reckoned with; The British Invasion, the wild card, there is no telling what they are capable of or how hard they will go to get the job done; and TNA Tag Team Champions Scott Steiner and Booker T, they hold all of the power in the tag team division. Eight men will enter this nightmarish hell, with the opportunity to destroy each other. The only question to be answered is, who will be left standing at the end?"

Lethal Lockdown Match: Beer Money, Inc. & Team 3D vs The British Invasion (IWGP Tag Team Champions), Scott Steiner & Booker T (TNA Tag Team Champions)
RULES: Match will start with one competitor from each team starting the match for 5 min, at which point a member from alternating teams will enter the cage at 2 min intervals. Once all eight competitors are in the cage, the roof of the cage and its various weapons will lower to properly begin Lethal Lockdown. At which point, the first team to earn a pin or submission will win the match.
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Out to start the match for their respective teams are Doug Williams and James Storm, but as Storm comes out second Williams meets him on the ramp, only to be caught with a right hand. Storm spits beer in his face before hip tossing him on the ramp. Doug into the guard rail and another right by Storm, then face first off the steps before tossing Doug into the ring. Doug catches him with a kick to the midsection though before he can enter the cage and a European uppercut before driving Storm into the corner to choke him with his boot, whipping Storm across the ring as the cage door is closed and Williams follows with a knee. Bell is never rung to start the match so suppose will pick it up here.
Storm and Doug try to send each other into the cage a couple times but they block each time, then Doug reverses a whip into the corner but caught with an elbow, Storm with an inverted tornado DDT from the middle rope. Storm covers but since all eight haven't entered the ref can't make the count. Doug sent off the ropes into a clothesline, then Doug with a jawbreaker, uppercut in the corner and uses Storm's shirt to choke him. Taunting the crowd a bit before some right hands, then Storm with some, Doug sent off the ropes again into a back body drop, then the Eye of the Storm. Storm grabs his shirt now to choke Doug, but Doug gets him with a low blow as a "Doug's a wanker" chant breaks out, then tries for a suplex but Storm counters with a low blow followed by a clothesline. Storm tries to send Doug into the cage, then Doug tries to send Storm into it but they both block and Doug nails an uppercut in the corner. Bell clap by Storm and a right, then Doug face first in the corner for more rights and chokes as the clock counts down.
Out next is Doug's partner Magnus, who tells the outside ref... something, and it allows Storm to dropkick the unlocked door back into his face. Magnus argues with the ref some more before grabbing the door, laying in wait as Doug whips Storm and Magnus sends the door into his face. Magnus into the cage now to stomp away at Storm for a double team straightjacket neckbreaker along with Doug. Storm face first into the cage now and he's cut open, as Doug follows with a knee drop, then Magnus with a leg drop. Magnus with rights as Doug holds Storm up, trading rights as the clock counts down.
Next out is Roode, who hands out right hands, Doug sent off the ropes into a back drop, then a spinebuster on Magnus as he comes off the ropes. Back elbow and stomps to Doug, whips him across the ring but gets caught with a back elbow. Doug to the middle rope to attempt a sunset flip but Roode rolls through, catapulting Doug into a DDT from Storm. Roode with chops to Magnus in the corner, whips him across the ring, Storm whips Roode into Magnus for a clothesline in the corner, then a pair of snapmares to Magnus followed by a knee drop by Storm. Beer Money go for their double team suplex on Doug but Magnus makes the save and sends Storm into the cage again, then tries to whip Roode but he's pulled back into an inverted atomic drop, then a backstabber by Storm. Doug goes face first into the cage, then Magnus as the clock counts down.
Out comes Steiner to join the match who nails Beer Money with clotheslines, then belly to bellies. Rights on Roode in the corner, whips him across the ring, Roode gets a boot up but Steiner nails him with a right as he goes to the middle rope, Steiner follows with a Frankensteiner. Steiner sends Roode into the cage face first like a lawn dart with help from Magnus, who stomps away. Steiner does the same with Storm with help from Magnus again. Storm into the cage again as the clock counts down and Beer Money get beaten down.
Out to even things out is Devon with clotheslines to the Brits, then Steiner reverses a whip off the ropes and Devon hits a shoulder block. Rights on the Brits, Magnus reverses a whip against the ropes and Devon with a Thesz Press and rapid rights. Beer Money and Devon with the advantage now with beat downs in the corners. Steiner sent off the ropes into a double clothesline from Devon and Roode, Roode with mounted rights and choking Steiner as Storm chops Magnus in the corner. Devon choking Doug in the other corner as the clock counts down.
Booker out as the final member for his team who sure takes his time to go to the ring with both tag titles in hand. Right after Roode with a side kick, then Devon sent off the ropes into a Harlem Side Kick. Brits work on Storm with boots and rights while Steiner gets the door open with Roode laid in the doorway, Booker with a superkick on Storm. Steiner uses the door on Roode's head wedged against the cage and we have the final countdown, and out comes Ray. He's ambushed out of nowhere by Rob Terry though who sends him over the guard rail. Terry grabs a chair and cracks Ray over the back with it as he pulls him back over the rail, and Terry calls for the roof to be lowered, and he manhandles the operator to bring down the weapons.
Ray is out cold on the floor as the heels go for the weapons, Magnus to the crutch of Devon, Steiner with a trash can to the head of Roode. Magnus presses a crutch against the back of Devon's neck. Ray comes to and Terry tries to hit him with the chair again but misses, and Ray takes the chair to bend it over Rob's head. Ray with the chair again and gets his way into the cage. Chair to the head of everyone. Ray with a scoop slam on Booker, trash can set between his legs and Ray slams a crutch down onto it. Doug meanwhile finds a way to get to the roof of the cage and up follows Beer Money. Magnus with a right on Storm who hangs from the side now, but Roode has a crutch behind him and breaks it over his back. Storm pulls himself back up and he and Roode deliver a double team suplex to Magnus onto the roof, landing spine first on one of the steel beams. Steiner sent off the ropes into a 3D, but then Booker nails Ray with a trash can, and Doug nails Devon with a chair. Beer Money climb back down, Book End on Ray, cover and two. Booker with the trash can again goes for Roode but he ducks and it nails Doug instead, then Storm nails Booker with it. Roode with a blockbuster onto Booker, then the DWI on Magnus for the win in 20:52. Well I'd say this one was better than the one I watched from Lockdown, but I still couldn't get into it. It still had its moments and I guess it wasn't completely boring.

Beer Money and 3D pose in victory as Magnus comes to and climbs back down, then to replays. More celebrating in the cage as the victors make their exit, though Ray gets in a few more shots on Magnus.

Lauren is backstage with Rhyno and she calls his match the greatest challenge of his career, and though Lashley refused to make a comment earlier, she asks if Rhyno has any last words before he faces, who she calls, possibly the greatest MMA fighter in the world. Rhyno says that Lashley had no comments because he didn't want to look bad after their wrestling match, emphasizing on the "wrestling" part. He says real men put on wrestling boots and fight, and he doesn't care about the MMA, or what Lashley's done in MMA, and says that when Lashley looks out in the arena, there's no octagon, there's a TNA wrestling ring with 6 sides. He says when Lashley looks across the ring tonight he's going to see a pissed off "War Machine" that's going to bring a whole hell of a lot of pain, that Lashley's in his house tonight, his rules. He says there won't be MMA gloves or kickpads tonight, that Lashley will see his taped fist that's going to bring a hefty dose of violence right to his face. He says they call him the War Machine because he's an animal, because he won't quit, and he doesn't submit, because he feels no pain, because he's going to rip Lashley in half with a gore (Gore! Gore! Gore!). Then leaves.

Over to commentary to hype up the next match some more, plus the Lethal Lockdown match and how Taz is happy to be there. They also recap the matches that have happened already tonight. I guess they need to stall for time while they take apart the cage. With that out of the way, no hype video, no bullet points, just right to the match.

"The Boss" Bobby Lashley vs "The War Machine" Rhino
Lashley right away with rights and boots to the midsection, then sends Rhino face first into the corner for more rights driving down Rhino until he ref pulls him off, followed by a corner splash. Snap suplex, cover by Lashley and a kick out. Rhino whipped into the corner but catches Lashley with an elbow, only to be taken down with a clothesline, sending Rhino rolling out. Lashley follows and sends him face first off the apron, then some elbows to the back, but as he turns his attention to the announce table Rhino whips him into the guard rail. Rhino rolls in to break the count before going back on the attack, tossing Lashley back in. Lashley though back on the attack, tries to send Rhino off the ropes but he's pulled back into a spinebuster, Rhino covers for one.
Lashley face first into the corner, clubs, kicks and stomps to the back from Rhino then some taunting, before choking Lashley against the mat. More shots to the lower back by Rhino and more choking with his boot, then a knee drop to the ribs. Right from Rhino, then a rear chinlock. Lashley fights his way out, Rhino off the ropes though with a clothesline, cover and a kick out at two. Another rear chinlock, Lashley fights out again, Rhino off the ropes into a spinning back elbow. Back to their feet at 8, Rhino misses a corner splash into a hip toss and some clotheslines and elbows from Lashley. Rhino whipped into the corner for a splash, then shoulders to the midsection by Lashley before a gutbuster across the shoulder. Rhino got busted open at some point and Lashley goes for a spear, but Rhino sidesteps and the referee gets hit instead, and while Lashley checks on him Rhino hits the Gore. Rhino covers, another ref is there immediately but Lashley kicks out. Rhino goes for another Gore but Lashley knocks his lights out with a right hand for the win in 7:09. Well the match started out alright, then slowed down too much. I'm not sure what the point of doing a ref bump was, when you had a new ref out there within seconds, it didn't add anything to the finish, hell if anything it made the Gore look kinda weak.

Lashley gets back to his feet with arm raised, as Rhino lays there blood splattered across his face. We go to replays and more celebrating from Lashley before he leaves to the back, and Rhino eventually comes to.

JB is standing by with Sting and AJ, starting with the former, he mentions that AJ was set to leave TNA a couple weeks back, retire for good and now he's competing for the World Title, plus he's in there with his mentor Sting, and asks where AJ's mind is at right now. AJ says there's only one thing on his mind tonight, which is winning. He says when Sting woke him up from the funk he was in, he made a commitment to himself, no more excuses, go out and prove to the world that he's the best at what he does. He says that he and Sting are professionals, but they have one thing on their minds tonight, which is to leave the building TNA World Champion. Sting asks if AJ's ready, AJ says he's ready, and Sting says it's showtime, but before they leave, Sting says to let tonight, for one of them, be the first day of the rest of their lives. They fist bump and leave.

We go to our next video package for our main event. It starts with Morgan blaming Kurt for taking the biggest moment of his life away from him, AJ preparing to retire, Sting pondering how many more times he'll have to fight for the World Title, and Kurt vowing to keep the title. Kurt tries to talk his way out of his problem with Morgan, saying he misunderstood Kurt's good intentions, and that maybe Morgan's too immature to understand it now, but he will in due time, and he's on the cusp of becoming the newest member of the Mafia. Then we get to Sting and AJ, where Sting calls AJ a loser when he was supposed to be the chosen one, because losers quit just like he's trying to do, and he tells AJ to get his head back in the game and claim what's supposed to be his. This would lead to AJ and Sting winning respective matches (Sting's match I believe is one Cornette has ranted about), and Sting trying to talk some sense into Morgan, that the Mafia just wants to use him to achieve their goals. Kurt tries to turn AJ against Sting, that rather than pass AJ the torch Sting wants to burn him with it instead. Matt would come to his senses and things would come to blows on Impact, and would end with Angle putting Morgan through the announce table with an Angle Slam.

Before that though, as always we have the bullet points:
- Mafia Blueprint: For months, Angle dangled the Main Event Mafia carrot over Morgan, and "The Blueprint" finally concluded those were empty promises.
- Sting & Styles Qualify on Impact: First "The Icon" offers career advice, the voice of reason for AJ, then Sting and Styles gain the open spots winning two high-pressure matches on Impact.
- Is Angle vulnerable without an ally?: Now that Kurt Angle is on his own, how will the Godfather respond? One champion, plus three top challengers, that's an equation that on the surface doesn't favor the Mafia. Who leaves No Surrender with the title, the power and the control?

Also like always we have a brief video package for each competitor before their respective entrances:
There is only one word to describe him: phenomenal. A 3x World Heavyweight Champion (when TNA was still with NWA), looking for his first TNA World Title, and the only Grand Slam winner in TNA history. A high-flying risk taker, he is AJ Styles.
The DNA of TNA, he is 7', 330lbs of pure, brute strength, physically, the biggest American Gladiator in history, the most genetically jacked, athletically stacked superstar in TNA today. He is "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan.
A champion, a main eventer, an icon, he is the man simply known as Sting. As this wrestling legend's career enters its twilight, will this be his last shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship? (It won't.)
History may judge this man as the greatest wrestler ever to enter the ring. A 13x World Champion, the second man ever to win TNA's Triple Crown, the first man to hold three TNA championships simultaneously, and he is the only Olympic gold medalist ever in the history of professional wrestling. Intense and determined, he is the champion Kurt Angle.

We get through the introductions, and as Angle is being introduced by JB, he's interrupted by Hernandez with a mic. He says he didn't come all the way to No Surrender just to wrestle for five minutes, which is why he's cashing in his Feast or Fired briefcase to turn this into an impromptu five-way. Kurt yells at commentary over this. Angle and Hernandez get in each other's faces and Angle slaps him, and Hernandez drops him with a clothesline. Everyone else just stands off to the side as Angle is sent off the ropes and pounced halfway across the ring. Hernandez wraps his shirt around Kurt's head and throws him across the other side of the ring, then delivers a stalling suplex, holding Kurt there a good 30 seconds before driving him down, then clotheslines Kurt over the ropes to the floor. The bell finally rings as Hernandez delivers an ax handle off the apron to the back of Angle.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Kurt Angle (c) vs "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs "The Icon" Sting vs "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan vs Hernandez
AJ immediately tries to roll up Morgan who kicks out at one, then gets nailed by a right hand, allowing Sting to try for a roll up on Morgan and another kick out at one. Angle and Hernandez fighting by the announce table as AJ and Sting team up against Morgan in the ring, though Morgan gets Sting down and throws AJ into the corner. Hernandez with a suplex onto the ramp and Morgan a splash on AJ in the corner following a headbutt to Sting, then tosses AJ under the ropes to the floor. Hernandez and Angle fight to the stage as Morgan gets Sting with a scoop slam and a cover for two. Hernandez goes for a Border Toss but EY comes out from behind, nailing Hernandez in the back of the leg with some kind of club, before piledriving him onto the stage. Angle comes to as Sting fights out of a headlock, then he and AJ with shots on Morgan, followed by a double team suplex sending Morgan out.
Doctor is checking on Hernandez as AJ and Sting have a quick back and forth, AJ catching him with a dropkick coming off the ropes. AJ off the apron with a somersault on both Angle and Morgan, though he barely gets Morgan who's back to his feet. Sting pulled out by Morgan now and whipped into the guard rail, and talks Angle into forming an alliance, opting to deal with Sting as Angle goes after AJ. Sting though rakes the eyes and sends Morgan into the guard rail, as Angle seemingly goes for a tombstone, then AJ reverses for an attempt of his own, but Angle slips free and applies the Ankle Lock, but AJ reverses into a victory roll for two, before ducking a clothesline and taking down Angle with a headscissor. Angle rolls out and AJ goes for a baseball slide, and though he's caught gets Angle with another headscissor to the floor. Sting meanwhile sends Morgan back into the ring, but walks into a boot to the midsection and a right sending him into the corner for his rapid back elbows after removing his pads. AJ with rights on Angle as Morgan hits a corner splash and a sidewalk drop, cover and a near fall.
Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by Angle on AJ as Morgan chokes Sting, and Angle rejoins the action in the ring. Now he and Morgan trade shots on Sting, Morgan holding him up for more shots from Angle to the midsection, then Angle holds him up for shots from Morgan. AJ tries to get back in but Angle knocks him off the apron and goes back on the attack with Morgan. AJ with a springboard clothesline out of nowhere takes out Angle, then some rights on Morgan, then comes off the ropes only to be caught for a fallaway slam. Sting with some kicks to the knee of Morgan, then clotheslines for Angle and one sends him to the outside, only to turn into a clothesline from Morgan, cover and a kick out. AJ with a boot to Morgan and shots in the corner as Sting rolls to the apron, and turns into a belly to belly suplex from Angle. Angle kicks Sting to the floor and Morgan and Angle turn back to AJ, Kurt with a scoop slam, then Morgan throws AJ across the ring. Angle rakes AJ's face with his shoe before Morgan leaps high for a leg drop. Angle whips AJ into the corner, but Angle goes shoulder first into the ring post, only for AJ to turn around into a dropkick from Morgan as Angle rolls out. AJ choked over the middle ropes, then Morgan off the ropes to drop his leg across his back, covers for a near fall. AJ sent off the ropes but hangs on and Morgan hangs himself up on the top rope as he goes for a boot, allowing AJ to hit him with the Pele Kick. Angle back in with a German suplex and Sting off the top with a missile dropkick on Angle.
Sting and Angle back up first with rights to both Angle and Morgan, scoop slam on Angle, then on Morgan. Stinger Splash on Angle, then on Morgan in adjacent corners. Mounted punches on Morgan until Angle cuts him off and delivers the Angle Slam, covers but AJ breaks it up. Kurt with an Angle Slam attempt on AJ but he rolls through and counters with the Styles Clash, into a pin attempt but Morgan breaks it up. AJ with an enziguri to Morgan  and some shots in the corner, then gets whipped into the corner but gets his boots up, off the middle rope into a boot from Morgan. Morgan delivers the Hellevator, covers but Sting breaks it up. Morgan gets Sting up but he reverses into a Scorpion Deathdrop, covers but Angle breaks it up. Sting sent into the corner but Angle misses a splash, then Sting goes for the Scorpion Deathlock but Angle counters into the Ankle Lock. Sting nearly gets to the ropes but Angle pulls him back, only to be taken out by a Carbon Footprint from Morgan. Sting pulls down the top rope as Morgan charges and sends him to the outside. Sting looks down at Angle, then over at AJ for a few seconds, before deciding to dive out onto Morgan from the apron. AJ meanwhile to the apron for a springboard 450 on Angle to win the title 15:16. Well Morgan once again was just kind of... there. I don't know what the point of Hernandez cashing in the briefcase was, I mean you could have had EY attack him as he came out to cash in, instead of wasting it, but that's what you get with Russo. Was nice to see AJ win and the crowd popped huge though, and setting all that aside it was an enjoyable match. Plus as much as I rag on Russo, this story with AJ did have a nice flow and conclusion to it, so for once he got something right.

Confetti drops from the rafters as AJ celebrates, Daniels coming out and fans rushing the ring to join in on the celebration, then to the replays. More celebrating and JB is there among the sea of fans to get a word with the new champion.... Oh I guess he's actually there to celebrate too. Oh he is there to get a word, he has a mic and AJ is speaking but you can't hear a damn word, somebody in the truck fucked up again. This all goes on a good two minutes to finish the show, though not before a plug for TNA big PPV of the year, Bound for Glory, coming from LA. Seems that will be next.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Well the only matches I really enjoyed on this show were the Falls Count Anywhere Match, the X Division Title match and the main event. The only bad match was the Legends Title match, everything else was just kinda there, had some good moments here and there, but nothing that were must see. That said, with a run time of 2:52:42, this show had a total 1:32:12 of wrestling.
