WWE New Year's Revolution 2005
Given the PPV is in Puerto Rico, the opening video starts talking about it's beauty and sights, to contrast with the brutality of the night's main event, the Elimination Chamber, giving us its dimensions alongside highlights of the past iterations.
Live from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan for the inaugural New Year's Revolution, Raw exclusive PPV. Welcomed to the show by JR and the King, as well as Hugo and Carlos on the Spanish side of things, who guarantee that a new World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned inside the Chamber. Then onto the first match.
World Tag Team Championships: Christian & Tyson Tomko vs Eugene & William Regal (c)
Pre-Match: Eugene has come out looking like the Hulkster, with the Hogan shirt and headband.
Regal and Christian start things out. Bit of chain wrestling to start the match along with some pin attempts until Regal is backed into the corner. Christian driving his shoulder into the ribs, only to be sent off the ropes into a hip toss. Eugene tags in to try and give Christian a wedgie before doing Hogan's poses and a wiggle. Christian with some cheap shots, then sent off the ropes, Eugene tries a monkey flip but Christian hangs on, only to miss an elbow. Junkyard Dog like headbutts before Tomko is tagged in.
Regal offers to tag in but Eugene wants to stay in, dropped with a right and choked on the mat. Christian back in, Eugene sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline, slides under the ropes and shakes hands with fans. Then he escapes under the ring as he's cornered and Regal causes a distraction. Eugene in from behind shoves Christian into Tomko, knocking him out of the ring, Christian rolled up for two.
Airplane spin from Eugene, then hit with a spinning slam from Tonko behind the ref's back. Christian stomping away before Tomko tags back in. Eugene chokes in the corner, then some back elbows to the sides of the head and a powerslam, Tomko covers for two. Tomko rakes the eyes before Christian is back in. Eugene starts to hulk up, then hits a back body drop before Regal gets the hot tag.
Tomko in too and Regal hits some clotheslines, then a dropkick. Christian is pulled in and Regal eats a clothesline in the process Tomko mounting with rights, then an elbow and a cover for two. More choking by Tomko and Christian tags back in. Christian with some more rights and a cover for two. Regal's nose has been busted as Christian applies a rear chinlock, then a forearm rake across the nose. Tomko in again. Regal choked more in the corner then tossed across the ring by the neck. Regal speared into the corner, then gets some knees into the face only to be shoved into a cheap shot by Christian. Tomko covers but Regal's in the ropes. Regal tries to fight back against a front facelock to make a tag but Christian yanks Eugene off the apron. Regal eventually gets to the corner off a back body drop but Eugene's still on the floor. Regal is double teamed while Eugene argues with the ref, then Regal sent to the corner and he collides with Tomko on the rebound. Tomko charges into the back of Regal, then a knee drop across the face.
Regal avoids a second charge into the corner and makes the tag to Eugene. Rights to Eugene, then off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and hits one of his own. Christian off the ropes into a gut punch, then a dropkick to Tomko. Eugene seems to be legit injured because he immediately clutches his knee and can't stand. Regal dumped to the floor and Christian follows, Eugene manages to roll up Tomko to retain in 12:22. Pretty good opener until the injury. They got lost there for a moment but managed to rush to the finish pretty good.
Referees quickly make their way out to check on Eugene as Christian and Tomko make a quick exit. Replays while Eugene is checked on.
Footage of Christy Hemme at a pool from earlier in the day.
Christian and Tomko walking backstage pissed and bump into Edge. Edge has an idea but Christian isn't exactly ready to trust him, given Edge jumped him from behind the last time he did. He gets ready to sick Tomko on him but then Edge dangles the World Title (metaphorically) in front of him. So they go walking.
Onto the next match, the Women's Title, with Trish and Lita. All starting back around the time Kane got Lita pregnant, mocking her and making fun of her along the way. Eventually it came to a head at Survivor Series where Lita viciously attacked her with a chair leaving her with a broken nose and one of protective masks. Lita would get her rematch in the Raw main event and have that sick suicide dive to the floor before winning he title. Now tonight we get the rematch.
Lita shoved into the corner off a lock up until the ref forces a break. Another lock up until Lita takes Trish down, another break forced. Trish with some forearms and Lita sent off the ropes only to send Trish out to the floor. Thesz Press off the apron and Lita clutching at her knee immediately. Back in the ring, Trish covers for two. Mounted rights by Trish, then kicks to the knee in the corner, then a cover for two. Lita fights back with forearms only to collapse. Trish gets some more shots in and the ref separates them to check on Lita, then Trish back on the attack. Lita tries for a DDT but the leg gives out, Chick Kick from Trish to win the title in 3:46. Jeez, at least the injury came near the end in that last match, but this completely fell apart not a minute into it.
Doctors and officials out for a second time as Trish celebrates and leaves, then the replay of the Thesz Press that caused the injury, then the Chick Kick/
Jericho is getting ready in the locker room, competing in the Chamber later.
Footage of Maria at the pool earlier in the day.
Cut to Bischoff with Edge backstage, as he's trying to wrap his head around this idea that was mentioned earlier. It seems Edge wants to be taken out of the Chamber, because with HBK as the referee he thinks he has no chance at becoming World Champion, Shawn won't let it happen, says that he'll screw him as soon as he gets the chance. He sees no reason to put himself through hell, so he suggests Christian take his place, who comes into frame behind Bischoff, and then he can face the winner of the Chamber the next night on Raw, no matter who it is. Bischoff shoots it down citing sponsors, advertisers, and 14,000 people who bought tickets and millions of viewers who expect to see Edge in the match. Edge of course only cares about himself, then suggest they just take Shawn out because no one cares about him. Bischoff shoots that down too and points out Edge got himself in this mess by spearing Shawn at the Taboo Tuesday PPV.
Edge leaves the office pissed and it just so happens Shawn is standing nearby. Shawn tries to ease his concerns saying his only responsibilities are to count the pinfall and call the submission, giving his word that he'll call it down the middle. He does warn though that he may strike back if provoked, and if the opportunity comes he'll enjoy counting Edge's shoulders to the mat 1-2-3. Edge walks off.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Shelton Benjamin (c) vs Maven
Pre-Match: We're shown footage from a month ago, where Shelton was pinned by Maven via surprise roll-up in a six-man tag on Raw, that also involved Tomko, and I have to assume Christian, Regal and Eugene.
Maven immediately retreats into the ropes, and we're given an update that Eugene has a dislocated kneecap. Lock up to begin properly and Maven is backed into the corner, forcing another break in the ropes. Fans are chanting something in Spanish as Maven wastes time on the outside, walking around ringside. Maven teases returning to the ring only to grab a mic instead. He tells the ref not to count because he has something to say to the fans. So he grabs a chair and stands on top of it and the fans start chanting some more and he says he has no idea what they're saying. He's not sure how many of them speak English, so he's going to talk real slow. Also the ref has actually stopped counting for this, and I think he breaks his mic as he jumps off the chair to yell at a fan. More chanting. He says to become the new IC Champion, he needs to concentrate, and he can't do that when they're talking all that gibberish. So he asks them to do him a favor... well rough Google translate says he told them to shut up in Spanish, which seems to line up with their reaction. Finally Shelton goes after him and now Maven decides he's gonna leave, and will challenge Shelton back in the US. So he starts heading to the back, but then turns back charges back into the ring. Immediate roll up by Shelton to retain. Bell to bell this thing went 6:08, but at least 5 minutes of it was spent stalling for time, and Maven talking to the crowd when he should have been counted out.
Maven in disbelief as Shelton leaves. Maven gets the mic again and has his music cut, says that didn't count. He says he wants a rematch, not tomorrow, or next week, he wants it immediately. Maven says we have two women's champions as Shelton tries to deny him the shot, and we get a "na na hey goodbye" chant going. Shelton eventually makes his way back to the ring and Maven says that he and Trish both have a title, and neither have a set of "huevos." I'm not even gonna bother with this one because Shelton rushes in, bell rings, ducks a clothesline, t-bone suplex and Shelton retains again.
Footage of Candice oiling Christy's back by the pool earlier in the day.
Benoit is getting ready backstage for the Chamber.
Lawler has left commentary as he has a match up next, and JR will be in his corner. Footage from Raw where Hasaan sucker punched JR, then King during a debate, then a pair of leather belt shots and a punt kick, and choking JR with the belt. King was cut open from the belt shot and tried to get a shot in but Hasaan and Daivari made their escape.
Todd Grisham is backstage with Hassan and Daivari. Todd is immediately cut off by Hassan as he says the footage we saw was typical of Todd and the American media, biased, it only showed one side of the story, only the physicality that happened after the debate. He says it didn't show Lawler calling him an idiot and a jackass, or JR telling them to leave their own country. I had to go back and watch this debate to see just how poorly aged this was, but thankfully this is slightly out of context, JR wasn't being racist. As far as he's concerned, King and JR got exactly what they deserved.
Todd moves onto the match tonight, which is Hassan's first PPV match and Todd asks if he's nervous. He's not nervous, he's excited, to wrestle in Puerto Rico for one specifically, because if anyone knows what it's like to be treated like second-class citizens its the people of Puerto Rico, says its not even good enough to be considered a state, it's a commonwealth, which means they're second-class by definition, so they should be able to relate to them and Arab-American people, or so he thought. But he says the Puerto Ricans treat them the same way Americans do, they were detained three hours at the airport while their luggage was searched, and their hotel reservations were mysteriously lost. Daivari also had his wallet stolen at a restaurant. He says if the people of Puerto Rico want to make an enemy out of him, they got it, just like Lawler, and he'll be used as an example for everyone who tries to disrespect them. He says that New Year's Revolution may end tonight, but his personal revolution will be just beginning. Daivari says something and they head out to the arena.
Muhammad Hassan (w/ Daivari) vs Jerry "the King" Lawler (w/ Jim Ross)
Pre-Match: No replacements for commentary on this match.
Lock up to begin, only briefly as Hassan delivers a scoop slam. Another lock up, then King with a scoop slam of his own. Another lock up, another scoop slam and a third by Hassan, and a fourth and a fifth, and sixth, sending Lawler stumbling out of the ring as he tries to stand back up. Another lock up and Lawler is shoved into the corner, then Hassan with a knee to the midsection. Lawler sent across the ring and gets a boot up, hitting a running clothesline before Hassan retreats to the floor. He wastes time taunting JR allowing Lawler to get a shot in, returning to the ring. Lawler sent off the ropes into a back elbow and Hassan removes the turnbuckle pad. Lawler with an inside cradle but the ref is busy trying to put the pad back on, until JR diverts his attention back to the mat but Lawler only gets two.
Lawler is shoved shoulder first into the exposed buckle and Hassan stomps and knee drops into it, then a cover for two. Hassan with a camel clutch, then a forearm to the face into a front facelock. Lawler fights his way out only to get a knee to the face, then Hassan reapplies the camel clutch. Hassan eventually just lets go, then a boot to the head and a cover for two. Suplex and a cover by Hassan for two. Cobra clutch now by Hassan. Lawler fights his way out of it with elbows to the gut, then sent off the ropes into a knee to the midsection, then another cover for two. Hangman's neckbreaker and a cover for two by Hassan.
Lawler face first in the corner and some rights by Hassan. Lawler starts to get mad and pulls down the straps. Some rights of his own and a third drops Hassan, then a dropkick. Lawler to the middle rope for the fist drop, makes the cover but Hassan kicks out. Lawler with a DDT and cover but Daivari puts Hassan's foot on the bottom rope. Lawler goes after Daivari who runs right into JR. Daivari runs into the ring, narrowly escaping. Lawler turns around into a reverse STO for the win in 10:52. Yeah this went way too long and was boring as all hell.
Hassan and Daivari leave. JR checks on Lawler. Then the replays.
Todd is backstage with Batista, also competing in the Chamber tonight, asked what he thinks his chances are. Batista just has Todd look at him to show his chances, says he's a wrecking machine. Then Orton walks up, another entrant in the Chamber, taking over for Todd as interviewer. He asks what everyone wants to know, if Batista's going for the title or if he's just gonna be HHH's stooge. He says Trips doesn't give a damn about him, just like he didn't give a damn about Orton, he only cares about the title, it's why he formed Evolution in the first place, why he recruited the both of them. He points out he helped Trips win the title in the Chamber when he was still in Evolution, and he got repaid with betrayal. He asks if it comes down to Batista and Trips, if he's gonna kick his ass or kiss it. Batista says he should stop worrying about what he'll do to HHH and instead what he'll do to Orton. He says if he gets his shot at becoming champion, he's taking it.
JR is back on commentary, but Lawler isn't back yet. Coach will take his place for the time being.
Up next, it's Kane vs Snitsky. Of course this all started infamously when Snitsky caused Lita's miscarriage. It wasn't his fault. Kane was left weeping at Lita's bedside and marked Snitsky as a dead man. They'd have a match at Taboo Tuesday where the fans chose the legal weapon of the match, a chain, but Snitsky would take it upon himself to use a chair anyways, putting Kane out of action after crushing his throat with it. Snitsky did claim credit for the path of destruction he left going forward. Bischoff would make this match following Lita's announcement of Kane's imminent return.
Snitsky with a knee to the gut after butting heads, then some rights drive Kane into the corner. Kane sent across the ring then delivers a clothesline. Rights and elbows in the corner from Kane, then a scoop slam and a pair of elbows, followed by a leg drop. Snitsky choked on the mat. Snitsky sent into the corner, tries to get a boot up but gets caught and eats an uppercut. Powerslam by Kane and a cover for two.
Rights by Kane, then off the ropes, caught with a sidewalk slam by Snitsky. Kane sent into the corner for a clothesline, then a short-arm clothesline. Snitsky leaves the ring and pulls up the padding around the ring, exposing the concrete floor but he's caught with a baseball slide. Knee to the gut by Snitsky, then he tries for a powerbomb but he's back dropped onto the concrete. Back in the ring, Kane goes up top, goes for his flying clothesline but Snitsky boots him midair in the ribs. Snitsky stomping away before sending Kane into the corner, then a boot to the head. Kane's body is twisted around the ring post, then more boots to the back by Snitsky. Scoop slam by Snitsky, then an elbow and a cover for one.
Snitsky with a bearhug. Kane fights his way out and delivers some rights, then claps the ears followed by an uppercut. More rights by Kane sends Snitsky into the corner, then Kane tries for the chokeslam but Snitsky avoids it, hits a scoop slam but Kane sits up. Snitsky with a boot to the head but Kane sits back up. Another boot to the head, and he sits up a third time, but gets another boot to face. Snitsky takes it to the outside and sends Kane into the steps, then he grabs a chair only to eat a big boot.
Back in the ring, Kane sent to the corner but gets Snitsky by the throat, throwing him into the corner for elbows and vicious rights. Snitsky sent across the ring for a clothesline, then back across into a sidewalk slam. Big boot by Kane before going back up top, connecting with the clothesline this time. Snitsky fights off Kane for the moment before a hot shot into the top rope, then a clothesline from Snitsky.
Kane with an uppercut as they get back to their feet, then they get each other by the throat. Kane powers out of Snitsky's grip but gets a knee to the gut, and now Snitsky is biting at his ear. then catch each other with a clothesline and big boot. Kane sits up a fourth time as Snitsky is still trying to recover, and he's up first. Tombstone for the win in 11:41. Should've shaved a few minutes off of this one, but it wasn't terrible.
Plug for the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD. Lawler has rejoined commentary along with Coach and JR.
More footage from poolside, Stacey Keibler. They replay the footage of Maria from earlier, as well as Candice and Christy. Simon Dean shows up to push some guy into the pool. Val Venis and Stacey are having a pool noodle fight in the pool. They have a chicken fight along with La Resistance, Rosey and Hurricane, Christy and Candice. Christy and Rosey win.
We've got the main event next. Problems started a month ago when Trips defended his World Title against Benoit and Edge in a Triple Threat Match. Orton would get involved and take out Trips with a chair while the ref was down. Benoit would counter a spear with a crossface, but Edge would counter that with a pin attempt. Another referee ran down to count the pin, but at the same time, Edge tapped out and the original ref came to and caught it. With Bischoff on vacation, Vince declared the title vacant and left it to the GM to decide what to do with it. Bischoff's solution was to decide the championship inside the Elimination Chamber, featuring the three aforementioned men, along with Y2J, Batista and Orton. Batista won a Beat the Clock Challenge, squashing Rhyno, ensuring he'd be the last to enter the Chamber, but this pissed off Trips as it went against their plan, but it also pissed off Batista. Bischoff would add Michaels as the special referee as the wildcard, he has history with all six competitors.
We see the Chamber get lowered, but before the match we go to the locker room where Trips confronts Batista. He happened to hear Batista's conversation with Orton earlier and is pissed off. Batista says he's learned a lot from him and Ric, and one of the first things he learned was to never let your opponent know what you're thinking. He points out he wasn't about to tell Orton the truth, he was put on the spot, and first and foremost he's a member of Evolution. As long as they watch each other's back it's all gravy. That is unless Trips is eliminated before Batista enters, in which case nothing will stop him from winning the title. Batista leaves.
Now Bischoff makes his way out with the title in hand. He enters the Chamber to introduce what he calls one of his greatest creations. "Over 10 tons of steel and chain, designed to be one of the most punishing environments any professional athlete could ever compete in and where tonight one of six Raw superstars will become the next Heavyweight Champion of the World."
Elimination Chamber Match for the Vacated World Heavyweight Championship: Batista vs Triple H (w/ Ric Flair) vs Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho vs Randy Orton vs Edge
Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Referee.
Pre-Match: This Puerto Rican crowd sure loves Triple H. Well I guess they love pretty much everyone in this match, save for Edge.
Jericho and Benoit are in first. Jericho shoved into the corner off a lock up until eventually separating. Then a bit of chain wrestling. Another lock up after separating, then Jericho with some rights and forearms. Loud chops by Benoit, Jericho sent off the ropes into a forearm. Jericho face first in the corner for more rights and chops, then Jericho with some of his own into the corner. Benoit sent across the ring, gets a boot up, then tries for the sharpshooter, Jericho counters and tries for the Walls but gets shoved into the corner. Benoit ducks a clothesline and hits a German. Jericho fights out a second and avoids the crossface, then tries the Walls again but Benoit fights out, mounting for rights. Benoit with more chops , then off the ropes, caught with a takedown and a cover for two. Back suplex by Jericho and a cover for two. Punt to the midsection by Jericho who then goes up top only to be cut off and chopped some more.. Benoit with a superplex.
Out of the pods first is Trips. Right after Benoit in the corner with vicious rights and stomps. Benoit sent across the ring hard spine first. Now after Jericho who's sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and eats a high knee. Benoit sent chest first into the corner hard, then a cover but Benoit gets his foot on the bottom rope. Jericho gets some shots in and drives Trips into the corner for some rights, then he's sent across the ring and nails Jericho with a clothesline. Benoit is tossed out onto the steel floor, then thrown face first into the chains. Jericho tossed onto the steel on the other side and Benoit is busted open now, HHH driving his fist into his head to open up the cut. Benoit into the chains a second time and bounces back into the ring,Trips covers but it only gets two. Trips goes for the Pedigree but Jericho saves with a forearm, now delivering rights to Trips. Pedigree is countered with a back drop onto the steel by Jericho. Trips dropped back first on the steel as he tries to hold onto the ropes, then Trips is suplexed back in the ring, Jericho covers for two. Benoit with some chops now to Jericho and an elbow, then a swinging neckbreaker and a cover but Jericho grabs hold of the ropes.
Out next is Edge who goes after Jericho, sends him into the corner and spears him into it, then Trips gets the same treatment. Impaler DDT and a cover to Trips for two. Benoit sent off the ropes into a belly to belly suplex from Edge. Trips sent off the ropes into a back body drop, then Jericho with a missile dropkick from the middle rope to Edge, covering Trips for two. Jericho with a springboard dropkick to Edge who's retreated to the steel floor. Benoit sends him off the ropes but caught with a knee to the midsection. Jericho goes after Edge but gets his eyes raked, then catapulted face first into the chains. Trips with a knee as Edge tries to re-enter the ring, then shoved back first into the chains. Trips tries a Pedigree but he gets catapulted too into the chains. Edge now up top with a clothesline to Benoit, covers but only gets two. Jericho's busted open now too. Benoit goes for the crossface on Edge but Edge elbows and fights his way out. Baseball slide to the ribs, then caught with an enziguri by Jericho, makes the cover but only gets two. Trips is bleeding slightly from the nose as he sends Jericho off the ropes into a spinebuster, makes the cover but it's only two. Benoit with a bridging Northern Lights on Edge but only gets two. Trips ducks a clothesline and delivers the Pedigree to Jericho, but can't capitalize.
Orton is next and goes right after Edge. Crossbody off the top to Trips and mounted rights, then more in the corner then some stomps. Trips tossed out onto the steel for more boots and an uppercut, then sent face first into the chains. Back in the ring, Orton with more rights knocks Trips back out to the steel and he goes face first into the chains again. More rights and Trips is tossed back into the ring, then sent off the ropes into a powerslam. RKO to Jericho, then Benoit counters one into a crossface attempt, but Orton manages to fight off of it. Benoit is choking him with a headlock and Trips is taunting him, so Benoit puts him in a sharpshooter. Then Orton nails Benoit with the RKO. Edge aims for a spear on Orton but he moves out of the way and Edge nails Michaels instead, then nails Orton with the spear. Cover is made but Shawn is down. Edge picks him up and shoves him in the corner, slaps him and eats some Sweet Chin Music. Lionsault and Edge is out. Trips tries to Pedigree Jericho again but Benoit makes the save with a trifecta of German suplex. Benoit climbs on top of one of the pods and nails a diving headbutt nearly across the ring. Jericho now gets Trips in the Walls, and Benoit applies the crossface at the same time, but they're a bit late.
Out last is Batista to make the save. Shoulder blocks and boots to Benoit and Jericho, then Benoit ent off the ropes into a shoulder block. Jericho is tossed out onto the steel, then Benoit. Spinebuster to Orton. Trips got busted open too and he and Batista lock eyes. giving the other three time to zone in on the two and attack. Batista sent off the ropes and double clotheslines Orton and Benoit. Military press into the cameraman on Jericho, then a powerslam to Benoit. Orton lifted in a two-handed choke but Benoit with a chop block for the save. Orton now mounts with rights and he and Benoit double team in the corner. Officials rush into the chamber to tend to the cameraman, Jericho rolls up Orton for two. Trips goes after Orton on the steel floor, sending him face first into the chains. Jericho with a bulldog to Trips onto the steel. Batista sends Benoit into the chains face first some more. Benoit avoids a powerslam and Batista goes face first into the chains. Batista stomps away at Benoit and chokes him some. Then Benoit with some chops to Batista, off the ropes into a spinebuster, then one for Jericho onto Benoit and now Benoit's eliminated. Batista now turns to Jericho. Orton tossed out tot he steel by Trips. Jericho sent off the ropes, but starts to fight back, tries a crossbody but he's caught with a slam.Ortron has taken control against Trips as Jericho is hit with a Batista Bomb for the elimination.
Trips is back dropped onto the steel by Orton, then he sends Batista face first into the chains.Trips then catapults him into the chains and gets opened up. Orton clotheslined back into the ring by Trips. Batista holds Orton up for Trips to slap then they both lay in the boots, followed by mounted rights from Trips. Batista with a powerslam and a cover but Orton kicks out. Spinebuster by Trips and a cover and another near fall. Trips off the ropes with a vicious clothesline and a cover but Orton kicks out again, then another cover and another kick out, and again and another kick out. More rights by Batista, then Orton blocks and starts delivering some to both and some boots. Trips avoids an RKO and shoves Orton into Batista, who tries for the Batista Bomb but Orton hits a low blow, then the RKO and Batista's gone.
Trips attacks from behind and tosses Orton onto the steel again. Orton avoids going into the chains and Trips goes into them instead, then a second and third time, tumbling back into the ring. Orton hits the RKO and makes the cover, but Batista hasn't left the chamber yet, so he keeps Shawn occupied. Ric somehow gets in when they open the door for Batista to leave but Shawn decks him. While Shawn is laying into Flair, Batista nails Orton with a vicious clothesline. Outside referees finally get Batista and Flair out of the chamber and Trips delivers the Pedigree to win back the title in 34:58. Hell of a match, but in the end nothing was really accomplished. Batista is still the stooge at least for now, nothing was really furthered with Orton, Benoit or Jericho, and as far as I remember this Edge/Shawn thing doesn't go very long, hell Shawn moves onto Angle at the Rumble. And the title is just right back on Trips where it was in the first place. Then again given where they were going at Mania, there was really no other way to go either.
Trips can barely stand as his arm is raised and handed the title, him and Batista standing tall with Ric. Shawn and another ref check on Orton while Batista lifts Trips onto his shoulders. Then the replays of the closing moments. Trips and Batista embrace and Evolution stand with arms held high to close the show.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Well... I mean this show was about as 50/50 as you can get in terms of good and bad. Had a good opener despite the injury near the end, a decent big man match, and a good main event despite what little it accomplished. Then there's the women's match that fell apart completely, to no fault of either, an unfortunate injury right at the start, an IC Title Match that was barely a match, and a match with Lawler that went way too long. So it was fine. With a run time of 2:32:11, there was a total 1:19:47 of wrestling.
